"It's friggen hot.." Royce muttered softly to herself, fanning herself with one of the brochures that had arrived in the mail.
Royce was huge. It was as if someone had planted one of those huge beachballs into her stomach, and because of it, she found herself barely able to move around the house, much less leave it these days. Not that she wanted to. She was tired of this pregnancy, she was tired of always cramping with every minor annoyance that crossed her path.
After the Italy trip, Adair had become her personal therapist. His unique abilities as a unicorn would help calm those cramps, ease the tension. However, over the last few weeks, it didn't even seem like those helped much.
She had taken up to mediating once more on her own, like she used to do so many years ago ...doing the meditations that Tristan had shown her to control her emotions. It helped a bit, but not much.
Swollen feet, cramping, constant headaches...the stresses of dealing with being hunted, the stresses of emotional breakdowns regarding Kenji and Josh, the stresses of just being a mom trying to make everything seem hunky dory...was getting to her, and she couldn't wait til the babies finally left her system. One more month she was constantly telling herself these days.
She continued to fan herself, her hand rubbing over the lower part of her stomach, frowning a bit. It felt like the babies had dropped all the way down, and that wasn't a good sign.
With Yumi and Niko, their birth had been relatively simple despite the hardships she had endured way back then. With these two, it seemed much more difficult.
She looked to the clock and sighed. Kenji and the kids should be coming home in about an hour with the groceries, which was fine for her. She was in the mood for one hell of a sub.
She struggled for ten minutes and finally rose to her feet, her hands rubbing more at her stomach and waddled towards the thermostadt, checking on it. She had brought it down to sixty..and it was still so freaking hot! She growled a bit, and waddled to check all the windows and doors, and made sure they were shut. Then she moved over to one of the ceiling vents and just stood there as the air kicked on again, blowing that delicious air down over her.
It was then she froze, a very sharp pain shooting through her abdoment, causing her to almost double over. Her hand slammed up against the wall to support her, as the other arm tightened about her stomach, a low groan sliding from her lips. her eyes shut tight, and beads of sweat immediately formed over her forehead. She stayed like that for a good five minutes as the pains grew sharper, then faded.
She panted a bit, trying to catch her breath, then slowly made her way back to the couch, giving a soft whimper as she slid down on it. Where the fuck was Kenji?
Sitting down, she shifted until she was laying on her side, curled up as much as possible. Her hands kept running over her stomach as she muttered. "Calm down ya two...calm down. I ain't stressin'..I promise.."
She closed her eyes and began her mediation, focusing on nothing but a soothing soft green color. She let it slowly expand, imagining it to wrap about her form. She had gotten up her legs and over her stomach when she gave a soft cry, her eyes opening up as another sharp pain shot through her.
Another five minutes would pass before she began to pant for air again, tears stinging her eyes. No..oh please no. It's too soon....you still have a month!
Her gaze drifted about the room, until she noted her cell phone on the dining room table, and she gave a soft whimper. Ain't no way in hell she was going to try and get up to get it. So she closed her eyes, focusing her energies, even as weak as they had been as of late, on that phone to lift it, pulling it towards her. It was halfway there when a third pain shot through her, causing her to scream and curl up. The phone dropped to the carpet, and Royce felt the wetness between her legs.
One month early.
She was going into labor.
"KENJI!"
